Joseph
Managing Director
Joe leads Birkett & Co. with a focus on helping clients structure, grow, and manage their businesses effectively. As the first point of contact for new clients, he takes the time to understand their goals and challenges before designing tailored solutions that align with both commercial and tax-efficient outcomes.
With over a decade of experience holding a practice license, Joseph’s expertise spans business structuring, tax planning, management buyouts, and company sales in addition to general tax advice. He regularly attends client board meetings, providing practical advice on strategy, governance, and long-term planning.
Combining technical knowledge with a clear, forward-thinking approach, Joseph works closely with business owners to support their ambitions—whether that’s achieving sustainable growth, optimising operations, or planning for succession.
Tim
Practice Accountant
With over 40 years’ experience across finance and accountancy, Tim brings a wealth of knowledge to Birkett & Co. His career began in banking before moving into industry, where he worked with large companies in areas such as credit control, purchasing, costing, budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting. This commercial background gives him a practical understanding of the challenges businesses face day to day.
As Practice Accountant, Tim continues to provide expert advice and trusted support to a wide range of clients, many of whom he has worked with for many years. Known for his approachable manner and depth of experience, Tim remains dedicated to helping clients manage their finances with confidence and clarity.
Tim is a Fellow Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FMAAT).
Sheila
Payroll
Sheila joined Birkett & Co on 7th September 2020. She commenced her working career in a chartered accountants office specialising in payroll and loved it so much that she went to work for a larger firm. Sheila has worked in large industries and small organisations across a variety of professions ranging from reinsurance, food, manufacturing and transport to name but a few.
Sheila is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals, a member of the GPA and has attained the MSc in Business and Payroll Management. Sheila has 35 years payroll experience and is passionate about delivering excellent customer service. She looks forward to working for and with you. Sophie
Her commitment to learning and attention to detail make her a valued member of the team. Sophie enjoys building her technical knowledge and developing strong working relationships with clients as she progresses through her studies and career in accountancy.
Charlotte
In addition to her bookkeeping work, Charlotte provides practical training and support to clients using Xero, helping them feel confident in maintaining their own records and understanding their financial data. Her organised approach and focus on accuracy make her an essential part of the team at Birkett & Co.
Gavin
As Office Administrator, Gavin is the first point of contact for clients, assisting with queries and ensuring they’re directed to the right person when needed. He also manages day-to-day office operations and handles correspondence and appeals with HMRC. Known for his calm and approachable manner, Gavin plays a key role in keeping the practice running smoothly and supporting clients with timely, accurate guidance.
Lyn
With over 30 years’ experience in bookkeeping and VAT, Lyn plays a key role in supporting clients with the preparation and maintenance of their financial records. She works closely with clients to ensure their books are accurate, up to date, and compliant, and that all VAT deadlines are met.
Lyn’s depth of experience and approachable manner make her a trusted point of contact for clients who value her practical advice and attention to detail. Her commitment to accuracy and reliability helps ensure the smooth running of the accounts process at Birkett & Co.
